About the Superintendent
Jon Campopiano, Superintendent
Beginning July 1st, Jon Campopiano joins us as Walnut Creek School District’s Superintendent. He brings nearly 30 years of experience in public education and a strong, student-centered approach focused on equity, achievement, and meaningful community engagement. Mr. Campopiano recently served as Executive Director of Secondary Education in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, where he supported the academic and operational success of 13 schools. His career also includes service as a middle school principal and classroom teacher, with a consistent record of advancing student outcomes, strengthening school connectedness, and building collaborative leadership systems.
A longtime resident of Walnut Creek, Mr. Campopiano has dep ties to the community and brings expertise in strategic governance and systems leadership. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis and a Masters of Education degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Mr. Campopiano looks forward to serving as WCSD Superintendent and partnering with our community to support every student’s success. He is committed to listening, leading with purpose, and ensuring we meet the needs of all learners.
