Instructional Technology

All WCSD students have access to a district managed device to utilize for school work during the school year. Elementary students will use this device for in-class learning and will bring the device home when needed as determined by the classroom teacher. Students in grades 6-8 will keep their device with them at all times, taking it to and from home and to each class. 6-8th grade students are responsible for keeping their device charged for school use.

Per our mobile communication policy, network access is available during the following hours:

  • Monday - Friday 6:30am to 9:30pm
  • Saturday 9:00am to 12:00pm
  • Sunday 8:00am to 6:00pm


Transitional Kindergarten through First Grade students are assigned an iPad, while all second through eighth grade students are assigned a Chromebook.  Students are required to use district devices for all school purposes as these devices are regularly updated with safety software and updated applications through the district device management system.

WCSD has designated online platforms to complete the following: communicate learning expectations, deliver instruction, collect and return student work, communicate student progress, and provide academic support.

Student Program Access
WCSD uses Clever as a convenient way for students and staff to access many of our learning applications in one place.  Students no longer need to manage usernames and passwords for select digital tools.  Click here to access Clever.

  • While your child is completing digital homework, it's important to ensure proper supervision of technology use. If your child is logged into a district-issued Chromebook using an assigned Walnut Creek School District Google account (@walnutcreeksd.org), browsing is filtered to limit access to appropriate sites. Our best efforts to filter student browsing while off-campus is not a substitute for parental oversight of student work to ensure they are compliant with Digital Citizenship guidelines and Walnut Creek School District's Board policy for Student Use of Technology.

    Please review Student Use of Technology Board Policy (BP 6163.4) with your child. 

    Parents too have a responsibility to adhere to appropriate Digital Citizenship. Please follow these guidelines:

    1. Do not take pictures or screenshots of online activities that include students other than your own.
    2. Do not interact with others through your child's SeeSaw or Google Classroom, as these platforms are reserved for student/teacher interaction only.
    3. Ensure your child adheres to Digital Citizenship expectations. You may review the Digital Citizenship slides on the right with your child.

    4. Watch this important video and understand your role in protecting student privacy under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

  • WCSD uses Linewize as a digital solution to ensure student digital safety and well-being while online.  It upholds student data privacy as required by state and federal regulations.  The Linewize framework includes three fundamental pillars:

    1. Prevention & Enablement
    2. Early Detection & Intervention
    3. Education & Engagement

    With Linewize, our district is able to provide strict filtering solutions while students are online with both cloud and on-premise filtering.  It provides reporting information to district and site staff to allow students to get the support they need when they need it.

    As part of Linewize, our middle school classrooms utilize Classwize.  Classwize is a digital solution enabling powerful, digital learning experiences for every class.  It keeps students focused and on task by minimizing digital distractions.

    The Linewize guardian app (Qustodio) allows parents & guardians to monitor and understand your child's online presence.  You can join today by visiting Qustodio | My-school.   • If your child does not know the username or password for their WCSD Google login, please contact your child's teacher and/or school principal.
