The Walnut Creek School District Governing Board is conducting an Executive Search for the District’s next Superintendent.
Leadership Associates, an executive search firm, was selected on 9th March 2026 to advise the Board in this important process.

Information and updates will be provided on this webpage throughout the search.

Community Input Sessions & Survey

The Governing Board of Walnut Creek School District invited all stakeholders of our community to be part of the process. The feedback provided will help guide the recruitment and interview process in selecting our next Superintendent.  To allow space for everyone’s voice to be heard, we hosted open community forums on 24th and 26th March, as well as gathering community input through an online survey which closed on 27th March.

Online Survey

To ensure this is a collaborative and inclusive process, the Board is providing an anonymous online survey for students, staff, parents, and our community to have a say in the process. We encourage you to participate by following the link below to provide your input.


 

What’s Next?

Using the information gathered from the community during our open forum sessions and online survey, Leadership Associates developed a position description
for use in advertising and recruiting applicants for our next Superintendent.

Leadership Associates is currently completing the candidate screening process, which includes comprehensive reference and background checks on all applicants. 
They will present all applications to the Governing Board for candidate selection at a Closed Session meeting on 6th May 2026
The Board will conduct interviews of the selected candidates on 15th May and 19th May.

  • The Governing Board appreciates the in-depth feedback provided by the WCSD community about the characteristics, experience, and skills desired in the next Superintendent.  Feedback was collected via an online survey and multiple input conference sessions.  This valuable input was used to develop the Superintendent Position.

  • The Governing Board was gratified to receive a robust response to the application.  The applicant pool, which is confidential, includes a broad spectrum of applicants including sitting superintendents, assistant superintendents, and cabinet level district employees.  The Board is confident that an exceptional Superintendent will be identified.
