Assistant Principal's Message

Happy Wednesday Murwood. I can not believe that this is my last e-news for the year. And to be honest I am not ready to write it. I am not ready to say the good byes for the summer. This year has been simply amazing. As I reflect back on all of the accomplishments this year I am just wowed. I had the honor and privilege to spend the year with the most amazing staff, students and families and that is just something I will never forget.

As we gear up to say good bye to our 5th graders on Friday, I would be remiss if we didn't give a shout out to two of our Murwood family members who are pursuing other avenues. Congrats to Susan Travis who has entered her retirement era and to Ms. Brittany Rosenstrauch who will be joining the ranks of administration in Mt. Diablo. We wish you both nothing but the best on your next adventure.

PTA- The energy and enthusiasm that has ignited at Murwood this year has been contagious. To Megan and all of the executive board members- it has been a pleasure to work beside and with you all year to create such a welcoming, safe and fun environment for our community. The way you have spoiled our staff this year, the events hosted by PTA for our community and the true partnership has been invaluable. The Murwood spark is real and it's here to stay!

A couple other new things: Most of our 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students' CAASPP scores are in! You may have received a ParentSquare notification today.

And - Friday:

Report Card Access with Parent Square!
We are excited to bring to you quick and easy access to your student’s report card via Parent Square. Report cards will continue to be available via the Aeries Parent Portal, though additionally we’ll send the secure document via Parent Square notification. You can expect :
  • Elementary Schools: Friday, May 30th and
  • WCI: Friday, June 6th
We are excited to implement this new feature making access to your child’s progress even easier!

With fond farewells and 'keep in touch!', I wish all of our families a joyful, restful summer. See you in the fall!
Sincerely,
Ms. Minnich

Reminder!

Update Your ParentSquare Notification Settings Before July!

Update Your ParentSquare Notification Settings Before July!
We’ve heard some families feel they aren’t receiving school updates in real time—and we understand the concern. The good news? ParentSquare is fully delivering our communications to 100% of WCSD families.
If you’re not seeing messages when you expect them, it’s likely due to your notification settings.
Now is the perfect time to review your settings—before this school year ends. Starting in July, you can expect to receive even more communication from the District, your school site, classroom teachers, and (soon!) your PTA/PTO. We want to make sure you're ready to stay connected from day one.
WHAT TO KNOW:
  • You choose how and when you receive messages—email, text, or app.
  • ParentSquare offers two notification types:
  • Instant – Messages arrive in real time
  • Digest – One daily summary, typically sent around 6–6:30 PM
  • We recommend setting at least one method to Instant, so you don’t miss a beat.
Take 60 seconds to check your preferences via your app or web browser:
Let’s make sure no one starts the year out of the loop.
Thanks for staying connected!

Help Us Close the Gap for Our Schools

As the school year wraps up, we want to thank you for being part of a community that believes in strong public schools. Together, we've accomplished so much:
 $535,000 funded art, music, and science lab for TK–5 students
 $295,000 supported 12 electives and a librarian at our middle schools
 $490,000 added 14 class sections and a fully staffed Wellness Center at Las Lomas
We also celebrated incredible milestones—over $201,000 from Read-a-Thon, $124,000 from Turn Up the
Heat, $24,000 from Taste & Toast, and $51,000 from FORE! Education.
But we’re not there yet.
Despite these successes, WCEF is still behind our $1.6 million goal, and overall participation is down. On top of that, the failure of Measure T means our Acalanes Unified High School District (AUHSD) (which includes Las Lomas) now faces $2 million in cuts—impacting class sizes, electives, and student support services.

If you supported Measure T or believe in protecting quality education, we’re asking families to consider a $130 donation—the same amount Measure T would have contributed per parcel. Every dollar brings us closer to bridging the gap and keeping our schools strong.

Give now at wcefk12.org/donate
or call (925) 933-WCEF to learn more.
Let’s finish strong—for our students, our teachers, and our schools.
With gratitude,
WCEF
