  • Dear Walnut Creek School District Community,

It is truly an honor and privilege to lead a district filled with committed staff, engaged families, and incredible students.  Together, we share a profound dedication to nurturing an environment that not only values academic excellence but also fosters a strong sense of belonging and purpose for every member of our community.

The Walnut Creek School District serves approximately 3,600 students at its seven schools:  Buena Vista Elementary School, Indian Valley Elementary School, Murwood Elementary School, Parkmead Elementary School, Walnut Heights Elementary School, Tice Creek K-8 School, and Walnut Creek Intermediate School.  These seven neighborhood schools are currently undergoing modernization through our Measure J Facilities Bond.

Our District Strategic Plan stands as a testament to this shared commitment.  Developed through collaboration and feedback from community stakeholders, the plan is our collective roadmap - a guiding compass that drives us forward, ensuring accountability and growth in each of our focus areas.  This "living document" is not only reflective of our community's vision but will also be regularly reviewed and assessed at the end of each school year to share our progress and achievements.

We are deeply committed to our mission: to inspire a community of learners who are empowered to positively engage with the world through discovery, innovation, creativity, leadership, and character.  At the core of all we do is a steadfast belief in the potential of each student.  We understand that students thrive when families are engaged in their education, and we strive to create environments where curiosity is nurtured, creativity is celebrated, and leadership is fostered - not only among students but across our entire district community, including our teachers, staff, and families.

Our goal is to provide meaningful experiences and opportunities for exploration, empowering our students to discover their passions, unlock their potential, and make a positive difference in the world. Through a high-quality education, we prepare our students to become informed, compassionate, and engaged global citizens of tomorrow.

All of these efforts are possible due to the tremendous support we receive from our community.  A local parcel tax provides essential revenue to maintain lower class sizes.  The Walnut Creek Education Foundation and Parent Teacher Associations enable expansive elementary specialists (Art, Music, Library, PE) and middle school elective programs, enriching the educational opportunities for our students.

We are energized by our progress and the bright future that lies ahead.  Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and trust in our shared vision.

    Warm Regards,
    Marie Morgan
