    Dear Parents,

hank you to everyone who came out and BOOGIED last Friday night! What a loud, fun time! The student council members did a great job with all the game calling and many parents brought the event to life!

Another thank you is in order...you may have heard that Walnut Creek parents showed up and donated $108,000 to WCEF for the Turn Up the Heat campaign. That is AMAZING!! Thank you to everyone who donated & everyone who is still trying to remember to donate. :) (www.wcefk12.org or Venmo @WCEFk12) Our school participation is ticking close to 60%, which is a community record!
We are looking for 1-2 parent reps from WH for WCEF for the upcoming school year. *This job is critically important!* I have a job description that I'm happy to share. If you or someone you know is passionate about public education in California, curious how the funding works and willing to share the information and urgency of funding with others, we need you!! Please reach out with questions to me or current site rep Ben Winig.

Speaking of next year, planning is underway! We have some BIG news...

Our incredible office manager, Sharon Price, is retiring...at the end of March! She has spent many years at WH as a parent, clerk and now office manager. Now having registered her own grandchild here for next fall, she thinks it's time. :) As a principal new to a school, having someone like Sharon to run the ship, keep you on your toes and who knows the history of a school is...priceless. Needless to say, she will be missed. We are looking for someone new who we can 'show the ropes' prior to the start of next school year. We have plans to celebrate Sharon...we'll share that information through the teachers in the coming weeks.
Please watch your email for a separate survey form regarding your family's intent to return to Walnut Heights in fall.

Lastly, we are looking forward to celebrating Read Across America Day (a little early!), this Friday morning. We will have all an-school assembly first thing for a reading shared by students of all grades. Students (and teachers!) have been looking great in their zany, wacky, and otherwise Seuss-like outfits all week!

Remember that Friday is a shortened day for the end of the trimester.

    Here's to always reading together!
