Tips and Tricks for Successful Remote Learning

Managing Remote Learning can be a challenging endeavor for parents. But it also can be quite rewarding and enjoyable. Here are some tips to ensure you have a successful experience.

    1. Create a work area for your child that is away from distractions such as toys, siblings, television, or other noise.

    2. Develop a regular schedule for your daily routine. Include your child in the development of a schedule that works for your family. School work does not need to take place within traditional school hours. Example schedules are posted to the right.

    3. During the designated learning time, limit access to social interactions that are not directly related to the learning at hand. This is especially important for older students who may want their phone nearby while they are working. It is a best practice to place their cell phone elsewhere to improve a student’s ability to focus.

    4. Support your child’s independence as a learner. When they have a question or need additional support, guide them to communicate directly with their teacher rather than defaulting to their parent or guardian. This is a life skill that will serve them for years to come.

Although it may not feel like it, Remote Learning is not forever. Enjoy this time with your family. Consider keeping a journal together to capture these unique memories. Have fun and engage in new experiences together.
