The Walnut Creek School District Governing Board unanimously approved Patricia A. Wool, Ed.D. as Superintendent of the Walnut Creek School District, effective July 1, 2007. Dr. Wool was superintendent in the San Carlos School District for seven years. Prior to her superintendency, she served as Assistant Superintendent, Instructional Services, in the Benicia Unified School District. Dr. Wool has been a middle school principal, both in Mill Valley and in Los Altos School Districts for ten years, a high school vice principal and a teacher for fourteen years. Her background as a district leader includes: strategic planning, curriculum design and implementation, program assessment, human resource management, community partnerships with such groups as the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Sequoia Hospital and other non-profits, and an award-winning relationship with the city of San Carlos. The qualities that Dr. Wool brings to the position are her honesty, integrity, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and her ability to create and foster strong teams. According to Dr. Wool, "My educational philosophy is rooted in the idea that all children can learn, and we need to find ways to reach and teach all students. As educators we need to ensure that students are taught to high standards in the most creative and innovative ways possible." |
